mouthpiece

FLAT to FLAT (The flat part of the reed goes on the flat part of the mouthpiece)

FAT to FAT (The fat part of the reed goes on the fat part of the mouthpiece)

TIP to TIP (The tip of the reed lines up with the tip of the mouthpiece)

The screws will ALWAYS be on the right side. ALWAYS!

(That means the screws are either on the bottom, next to the reed or on the top of the mouthpiece. The screws-on-top kind is called an inverted ligature.)
