Mouthpiece ideas

This video features some things to try on the mouthpiece alone. These will help with your tuning. Be sure not to move your embouchure, just the inside shape of your throat and mouth. See me if you are really interested in mouthpiece  drills. I don’t agree with everything he does in this video.

Pay close attention to how his throat area moves when he changes pitch.

Thanks Andy for finding this interesting video lesson.

Wow! I’ v never thought a mouthpiece could make that sound! Can you make the sounds with the saxophone but without pressing any keys? I would sure love to try this at band class.

That is amazing how so many different tones can be made using just the smallest piece of your saxophone. He doesn’t move but using the instruments in his body(his throat) to inhance the music coming from the saxophone alone is just so cool! Usually on a saxophone you blow into it, press the keys and if it says so you vibrate the pitch or change the loudness or softness of your note; seeing him, you see that he is the main instrument and he is playing the saxophone not the saxophone playing him. Like Andrew said, it would be cool to see if we could do this in Band class to just try out with the help of Mr Howrey.
