Timothy is very talented and has very interesting opinions on articulation. i did not know the tongue could ever over power th reed because i just figured because we could emphazise on some notes, that we could blow as hard as we wished. I also did not know that by changing the syllable of articulation, you could compress more or less. Such as when you tongue “Ta or Tut” it makes a more constricted and compressed sound. I feel confident with my tonguing because i used the proper technique he talked about: how much tongue you use, how hard you tongue…

I knew to an extent that syllables would affect the difficulty of tonguing in certain situations, but I could tell that Timothy is certainly a “master” of tonguing, as he can exercise so much control over each tongue. I did not know that the tongue could overpower the reed, and that certainly came as something new. I think that this lesson is quite average in terms of the fun factor, but it really is useful; saxophonists can learn from this in a matter of minutes.
