    How come the English horn isn’t in most bands any more and is it a wood wind or a brass instrument

      The English Horn (cor Anglais) is used as a color instrument. It is almost always used for major solos, both in band and orchestra music. It is a woodwind instrument and part of the oboe family.

    This goes for most brass instruments. I remember you telling me that in trumpet, the line of the lips are in the middle, and in French horn, it’s three quarters of the way down? What is the difference though? To me, it sounds the same
